Lan Communications appointed as Nokia Channel Partner to deliver Convergence of Fixed and Mobile Technologies

Lan Communications, the eircom network services subsidiary, announced that it has been appointed as a Nokia Channel Partner to deliver the convergence of fixed and mobile technologies for business. By integrating Nokia’s mobile business solution with Cisco Unified Communications infrastructure, users can extend Cisco’s feature-rich telephony capabilities to Nokia Eseries Smartphones over enterprise wireless networks. The solution greatly reduces mobile service fees, streamlines office communications and boosts employee productivity. The accreditation of Lan Communications as a Nokia Voice Partner recognises the company’s expertise and track record in deploying Cisco and Nokia’s mobile unified communications solution.

Commenting Andrew O’Kelly, managing director, Lan Communications said: “Combining the power of Cisco IP with Nokia’s mobile technology delivers a true end-to-end mobile communications solution to our client base. The convergence of fixed and mobile technologies enables greater workforce mobility in a secure and controlled manner whilst reducing the complexity in managing multiple communication channels. Our appointment by Nokia leverages existing IT infrastructure and supports our business ethos of helping clients to deploy innovative communication solutions such as one number and one voicemail whilst maximising return on investment.”

Nokia Intellisync Call Connect integrates natively with Cisco Communications Manager and Cisco Communications Manager Express. Using Cisco’s WLAN and Nokia’s Eseries Smartphones, users can use their mobile device as a virtual desk phone, leveraging mobile freedom with advanced telephony features. By using private WLAN networks instead of mobile networks in the office, mobile service fees can be slashed and the incidence of missed calls greatly reduced. In an international context, roaming charges can be eliminated where the user connects to the WLAN across the internal IP network.

“In launching this technology in to the Irish market, Lan Communications were a natural choice with their strong reputation for embracing innovative technology. Their market reach will help to drive the adoption of Nokia business solutions in Ireland” said Andrew Hawkins, Head of Business Mobility, Nokia UK Ltd.
